Have you ever had the chance to take a behind-the-scenes look at the filming of an exciting obstacle race challenge? We did! Sasuke Singapore is a new MediaCorp series which puts contestants through tough physical challenges. It is adapted from a Japanese series with the same name.
Around 18 students from the Diploma of Mass Media Management along with their lecturer,
Mr Azhar Abdul Salam, gathered at Sentosa’s Palawan Beach to catch the filming of Sasuke Singapore.
Even though it was a Saturday morning, there were many supporters seen on set, cheering their friends and family who were contestants taking on the challengesThe students of Mass Media Management got caught in the excitement of the event and started cheering! Whenever a contestant fell into the water, a loud “awwwww” could be heard.

But that’s not all we did there. Besides cheering for the contestants, we got a feel of what an outdoor production set looks like and how it works. We observed 10 cameras, placed at the different angles and parts of the sets to capture the contestants who were competing.

There was a high speed camera that captures the facial expressions of the contestants as they are competing, after they fell into the water or so. One of the cameras was placed on a jib and it followed the contestants as they attempted to complete the obstacles.

Mr Azhar managed to get his friends, who were the producer and director of “Sasuke Singapore” to give us a quick tour of the set and to talk to us about the nature of their work.
We even managed to get a sneak preview of the Outdoor Broadcasting Van where the Studio Director and his crew would take control of the shots and record what you will be seeing on your screens this National Day! We are certainly looking forward to watching this new series on our TV screens!
The debut episode of "Sasuke Singapore" will air right after the National Day parade on August 9, on Channel 5.###
